Senior Thesis 2014
INSPIRATION: This collection was inspired by the intricate ballgowns worn during the Rococo period. While keeping the silhouette simple, I wanted to add decadence through the use of macrame.
FABRIC: Silk Organza, Baltic Shantung
NOTES: The most experimental piece out of the three, the mini dress is made entirely out of 100% Silk organza. It is topped with hand-dyed blue macrame. The pink knee-length corseted dress is made out of Baltic Shantung and hand-dyed silk organza.
Last but not least, the ballgown consists of over 35 yards of Silk Organza that has been cut, serged, macramed, then hand-sewn on top. Underneath you will find a petticoat made out of 160 yards of soft tulle. Both dresses are hand-finished with a horsehair-hem for some added volume and structure.
*The ballgown was on display at the "Enduring Style: Practice Makes Perfect" Willis Tower Exhibition in downtown Chicago, Illinois during Summer 2014.
The collection garments are currently for sale. For more details, please contact bonkyubombgirl@gmail.com.
